American colleges are mainly financed by student’s very costly tuition fees. That fee can be very high, for example, it can be above $20K per year. But, in Online courses, a student does not need to pay transportation cost, dormitory cost, and hostel cost. Also, at least some, if not all, books are provided online for free. So the education cost of a student is greatly reduced.
In the traditional classroom teaching, classes are taken place in a fixed schedule, and students generally don’t have any power over this. In my college life, we together changed the schedule of the class once or twice, so I used the word ‘generally’ in the above sentence. But students who take an online education course, generally have other commitments to fulfill. They can attend the classes at the weekends or any other time convenient for them. It is the great power of online education:
Students Of Online Education Can Interact With Their Peers From Different Parts Of The USA Or Different Nations. This Exposure To Other Cultures Makes Students Culturally Sensitive And They Are More Able To Fit Into Other Environments.
All the important information that students need, are stored in an online database. That information includes all class recordings, live discussion documents, training materials, emails, etc. This documentation is especially useful for students working on research projects.
In many classroom education institutions, the number of students is so huge that the teacher is unable to give individual attention to each of the students. But in online education courses, that is never a problem. Online students can ask questions to the instructors through emails. Many times students think of a question when they study after class. They can ask those questions to the instructors via emails, and the instructor answers them.
The biggest advantage of online education is that the classroom and the instructor (theoretically) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Everything is available to a student. Students can get announcements, access notes, review assignments, take practice quizzes, discuss questions, chat with fellow students, and study any time they want.
